"The unexamined life is not worth living"--Socrates
Seven words combine to make the one of the most profound statements, ever. Rewind to my freshmen year in college, i took my first philosophy class(which i attended maybe 10 times...F) However, i fell in love with Socrates and this quote. I was(and still am) in awe of how he would rather die than to stop seeking knowledge, spreading knowledge, observing, questioning, and rationalizing. So, Kudos and Namaste to Socrates for not giving in to Crito's offer. What less would we have if he had done so?
Sometimes, people stop seeking knowledge. Other times, they never started, blindly believing rather than asking "why?" or "how?". It's unfathomable and even I have been guilty of it. We have been given minds to THINK! I would hope that no one gets force fed information without searching anything for themselves. 2+2 is RARELY ever 4. The world is full of grey areas, it's NEVER black and white. We don't realize how much bullshit gets absorbed into our minds and most can't differentiate between the bullshit and the real. It's sad. Ironically, the class i failed miserably taught me one of the most valuable lessons: THE MINUTE ONE STOPS SEEKING ANY KNOWLEDGE; THEY DIE.
